During this online course, participants will learn how to use the Glyphs app as a tool for font mastering and will prepare their own projects for production. The goal is to generate proper font files that work well in the intended environments and across platforms.
The course focuses on everything that has to be done after the design process of the typeface. Participants will get an insight into techniques and best practices for preproduction, mastering, postscript hinting, and font generation with the Glyphs app. In addition, they will be introduced to available tools for quality assurance.
Participants will apply skills learned to their personal project and will be invited to discuss arising questions during the course. Most of the work will be done with the Glyphs app, freely available plugins and scripts, and online tools.
Note: This workshop is only open to students enrolled in the 2022 Type West In-Person Postgraduate Certificate Program in Type Design.
