Kerning is the process of adjusting the space between letters to achieve a visual harmony and optimize legibility. Though kerning adjustments may be small, they are a critical finishing touch. Through a variety of hands-on exercises and group critiques, you’ll develop critical observation skills and learn to see type in a new way. In addition to kerning, this one-day workshop will address leading, line length, placement of punctuation and other finishing details that will transform your typography from functional to beautiful.

This workshop is geared for non-designers who work with type but have never studied kerning and type detailing, or graphic designers who want to sharpen observation skills.
