Typography is an essential part of graphic design, but mastering it can sometimes seem daunting. Fear no more, in this workshop you will acquire typographic skills on the micro level — you will learn how to look at typefaces, how to pick and then pair typefaces, how to solve intricate typographic hierarchies, and how to fine-tune long passages of text. You will learn how and when to use various kinds of dashes, get acquainted with OpenType features and master the glyph palette. Come learn how it can be useful to be slightly OCD! It will make you a better typographer.

This is not a workshop for absolute beginners, rather it is targeted towards designers and students who strive to improve their typography game. We will be working in Adobe InDesign, so a recent version (CS4 or later) of the application and a laptop is required.

A workshop offered by Type@Cooper West, a collaboration between Letterform Archive and Cooper Union, and held in the Monotype Classroom at Letterform Archive.
