Restaurant dining is a rich sensory experience, and creating restaurant brands allows designers to draw diverse inspiration — from travel, memories, poetry, and storytelling, printed ephemera, vernacular signage, music, and popular culture, to name a few. This intensive workshop will give you the opportunity to dip your toes into this process by “rebranding” a restaurant of your choice. This 2-week workshop is comprised of 2 group zoom sessions (3/1 and 3/15) with a one-on-one check in during the week with the instructor.
You may come to class with a personal project you’ve already begun or start from scratch in class. We will discuss how to conduct research, create narrative concept inspiration boards, and develop an overall transformational strategy. Note: due to time constraints there will not be an emphasis on a new brand logo. However, you are encouraged to continue this process after the workshop concludes and, armed with a new overall strategy, you may find that the logo re-design process is more streamlined, focused, and rewarding.
