Join us for our Salon Series, where Letterform Archive staff invite you to experience materials related to a specific topic of interest to our collection.
This month, in continuation of our exhibition with Astro Studios, Between Measures, we’ll take a look at the Archive’s holdings where design and music collide. Kate Long, co-curator of the exhibit, will further explore the history of music promotion through posters, magazines, and packaging. She may even perform a sound poem, but no promises.
Doors at 6:00pm. Presentation begins promptly at 6:30pm.
Kate Long, Letterform Archive’s assistant librarian, has a profound interest in book arts, typography, and concrete poetry, stemming from high school where she made art with abandoned Letraset, and later as the editor of a literary magazine where she enjoyed working with designers, artists, and writers. She also gained an appreciation for 20th-century graphic design while at the award-winning studio, Office. Kate earned her MLIS through Drexel University, which will serve her well as she helps to preserve and catalog the collection. She relishes helping people access the things that interest them.
