W. A. Dwiggins lived in Hingham from 1904 until his death in 1956 and is internationally famed not only as a designer of books and typefaces, but also as a puppeteer and marionette designer. Bruce Kennett has been researching, writing, and photographing for W. A. Dwiggins: A Life in Design since 2003; he also designed the book, which has 496 pages and more than 1200 illustrations. Kennett’s talk will explore Dwiggins’s attachment to the community of Hingham, with many examples of the work he made for the town and for local clients and institutions.
