Dwiggins at the BPL
Join Bruce Kennett as he discusses his newly published work W. A. Dwiggins: A Life in Design, the first comprehensive biography to be written about renowned graphic designer, illustrator, and commercial artist William Addison Dwiggins. Kennett – an author, book designer, and photographer – has admired Dwiggins’ work since 1972, and he will chronicle the myriad accomplishments of this quiet and humble man: typeface design, marionettes, book design, calligraphy, kite-making, illustration, furniture design, theatrical sets and lighting, all of them suffused with WAD’s humor, color sense, and joyful spirit.
Much of Kennett’s research was conducted at the BPL’s Rare Books & Manuscripts Department, where the W.A. Dwiggins collection is housed.
