In this lecture The Pyte Foundry’s founder, manager and sole employee Ellmer Stefan will elaborate on the concepts and contexts constituting the newly established pseudo-discipline labelled Pytography. By showing a diverse range of letter-related projects — oscillating between commercial and non-, purpose and pleasure, reading and looking, freedom and constraints, past and present — he will give insight into the process and thinking behind and emphasize the unifying principles of his practice: the poetic appropriation of referential material, the shameless indulgence into stylistic plenitude and the pleasurable absurdity of manipulating alphabetic shapes.
