Join us on an interesting trip through the world of old print media from Iran and Pakistan. This lecture will explore Farsi and Urdu magazines, movie posters, typography, and the importance of preserving neglected cultural materials in the face of rapidly changing technologies.

Letterform Lectures are a public aspect of the Type West postgraduate program. The series is co-presented by the San Francisco Public Library, where events are free and open to all.


Saad Khan

Saad Khan is a New York-based filmmaker and preservationist. He has directed notable films like “Chuppan Chupai” (2013), “Qandeel” (2017), and “Showgirls of Pakistan” (2020). Khan runs Savta, a media production company, and Khajistan, a project focused on preserving historical printed materials from the Islamic world. For more information, visit his official website.
