How can words turn upside down and still make sense? Join award-winning lettering artist and graphic designer Nikita Prokhorov for a deep dive into the wonderful world of ambigrams. We’ll uncover all—or at least most!—of their mysteries, break down the design process into clear bite-size steps, and explore connections between ambigrams, typography, and lettering. With several in-depth case studies, you’ll see how ordinary words can turn into beautiful ambigrams that will push the boundaries of typography.

Letterform Lectures are a public aspect of the Type West postgraduate program. The series is co-presented by the San Francisco Public Library, where events are free and open to all.
