Salon Series 41: SF Handstyles: Word of Mouth

Join Kate Dole for a talk on the critical role of oral traditions in passing down and maintaining the core and foundations of San Francisco’s graffiti culture through the generations. Dole will review a brief history of San Francisco’s graffiti scene and focus primarily on the importance of having a handstyle.

San Francisco has a legendary graffiti culture and scene responsible for some of the most prolific handstyles that are now emulated around the world.

Through her lens as a close loved one, Dole will provide a glimpse into the life and graffiti career of one legend in particular: Leonard “Jade” Liu. Sharing work from Jade's archives, Dole will bring to light important understanding of the handstyle master himself.
