Join Kate Dole for a talk on the critical role of oral traditions in passing down and maintaining the core and foundations of San Francisco’s graffiti culture through the generations. Dole will review a brief history of San Francisco’s graffiti scene and focus primarily on the importance of having a handstyle.

San Francisco has a legendary graffiti culture and scene responsible for some of the most prolific handstyles that are now emulated around the world.

Through her lens as a close loved one, Dole will provide a glimpse into the life and graffiti career of one legend in particular: Leonard “Jade” Liu. Sharing work from Jade's archives, Dole will bring to light important understanding of the handstyle master himself.

Kate Dole

Kate Dole is the former co-owner of Art Primo SF, a graffiti art supply store of the successful Seattle-based ecommerce company Artprimo.com. A very close loved one of Leonard “Jade” Liu and patron of the graffiti scene for the past 20 years, Dole shares her personal insights on the history of the Bay Area graffiti scene and legendary life of Jade through oral history.
