Small Matters Exhibition Design IN-PERSON Workshop

This dynamic workshop provides participants an opportunity to explore the world of art curation and exhibition design on a small, intimate scale.

Taking inspiration and using deaccessioned objects from Letterform Archive's collection, participants will curate and craft their own unique layout, then design and install a whole new pop-up gallery using modular materials that can be used for countless other micro exhibitions.

Your workshop instructor, Tammie Knight, will share tips, tricks, and best practices along the way to help you create the micro gallery of your dreams.

Required Materials
  • You need only bring yourself and a spirit of curiosity and creativity! The miniature gallery kits and materials will be provided.

Tammie Knight

Tammie Knight is a miniaturist, designer, and Art Basel Miami 2022 featured artist with expertise in creating 1:12 scale structures from concept to construction. A graduate of Parsons School of Design, she incorporates this background into the aesthetic of her miniature projects.

Miniatures are the medium through which she crafts narratives that breathe life into the scenes she creates to tell stories, real and imagined. Throughout her miniature-making career, Tammie has produced over 1,500 miniature projects for clients, family, and friends. Recent clients include the San Francisco Museum of Craft & Design, Blackhouse Group for Prime Video, Google Arts & Culture, Sunday School Creative, Blythe Coffee of Oakland, and more. Her current solo exhibition at the African American Museum & Library of Oakland, BLACK CULTURE: The Art of Photography in Miniature Galleries runs through July 15th.
